De Chiara Projects is an evolving and continuing presentation of artistic projects in the gallery space and beyond from New York to Berlin and back. Laurie De Chiara a New York City native, with a M.A. in Contemporary Arts/ Arts Management has been the force behind the creative process for almost two decades. In 1997, as an enthusiastic independent curator she opened De Chiara|Stewart Gallery in New York Chelsea district with partner Richard Stewart and her curiousity to stretch into the European market led her to open müllerdechiara in Berlin, Mitte with partner Sonke Magnus Müler in 2001. The galleries have participated in many art fairs over the years, Artissima, ARCO, FIAC, ArtForum Berlin, Art Brussels, Scope, ZONA MACO, MiArt, Bologna, Guadalajara Art Fair and many smaller art fairs as well.
The continual desire to expand, sometimes even beyond the traditional gallery platform De Chiara Projects was created in 2006 to offer her artists opportunities to work in a wider context. Under the same artistic vision a wide range of collaborative projects have come into fruition. In 2010, the socially engaged not-for-profit, ArtPod was established with a focus on creating large scale accessible art experiences and commissioned exhibitions.
De Chiara Projects maintains a residency in Berlin and just opened a new gallery concept in Kingston, New York.
